Each year the Hondo Art League hosts an English Tea Open House. Tea and scones along with other English favorites are served to visitors and members. The building is open to the public to view current art work of the HAL members. We welcome you to come see what HAL is all about. Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 19, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Hope to see you there!
An annual activity that is well known and well loved by the community is the Summer Art Camp for children. Held each June at the HAL Building, the camp is free to registered students and is designed for students in grades 3-12 Each participant is offered instruction in 3 or 4 art forms throughout the week, and the finale is the SAC Art Show to which parents, family, and friends are invited to view the students’ works of art. Offering hands-on art related opportunities for children is foremost for HAL. This year's camp will be June 15-19, 2020. Applications will be available from May1st through May 18th. Application is located on our Summer Art Camp Application Page.
Each fall at the Medina County Fair, Hondo Art League holds its annual Judged Medina County Fair Fine Art Show. Artists age 18 to 100 are encouraged to enter art pieces in the following categories: acrylics, charcoal, colored pencil, collage, drawing, graphite, pastels, pen and ink, oils, watercolor and hanging mosaics. Each category is judged, and ribbons are awarded.
Christmas in God’s Country is an annual activity in which HAL participates. Original holiday greeting cards, jewelry and arts and crafts produced by members are for sale, and the money raised helps provide an annual HAL Scholarship to a deserving Medina County High School student who has an interest in the arts.ighlighting part of me and selecting the options from the toolbar.

Members and guests meet the fourth Thursday of each month at 10:00 a.m. for the regular monthly meeting at the HAL Building, and ALL are welcome to attend. If you are an aspiring OR beginner artist (or simply someone who has a love of the arts and wants to promote the arts in our community), HAL would love to have you as a member. Annual fees are $20.00. Opportunities to learn…or grow as an artist are bountiful. Several times a year, professionals are brought in for specialized instruction, and members also serve as great teachers and mentors throughout the year. Membership in HAL is NOT required in order to take scheduled classes.
The Hondo Art League IS alive and well…and is always seeking those who have an interest in the arts to join their fold. With the goals of furthering cultural and creative activities in the community AND continuing to offer a warm and friendly environment in which aspiring artists of all talent levels and ages can congregate and further their appreciation of the arts, HAL continues to be an important community asset.
The Hondo Art League’s gallery, class space, and individual work spaces where artists (and those who want to learn more about art) congregate is located on the corner of Harper Rd. and Vandenburg Rd., across the street from the new Hondo Municipal Airport Terminal.
